 Charcuterie boards… for dogs?

Charcuterie boards… for dogs?

The dog snacks category wasn’t selling in the catalogue, even though we were offering quality ingredients and decent pricing.

I had a hunch: the problem wasn’t the product, it was how it looked. The images made everything feel generic… and if you’re a pet parent who cares about what your dog eats, you don’t reach for something that looks like it came from the bottom shelf.

When sales dipped, I convinced our supplier (with charm, one spreadsheet, and an email thread I’m still proud of) to fund a new photo shoot in exchange for image rights. We styled the snacks like dog-friendly charcuterie boards and got premium assets with zero budget spend.

The results:

• 10x increase in snack sales
• £0 spent on photography
• Supplier got fresh assets for their own use
• The whole category turned around practically overnight
